What Happens in a Reflexology Treatment?

During the first consultation a brief medical history will be taken.

Treatment follows with the use of cream to aid the movement of the therapist’s thumbs, fingers and knuckles over all areas of the feet. As the therapist’s hands pass over certain areas, a sharp discomfort may be felt, in others merely a firm pressure. During and following a reflexology session, patients usually experience a feeling of deep relaxation and well-being.

Allow 1 hour for a treatment.

The number of treatments will vary; in treating a clinical condition three weekly sessions are advised followed by subsequent treatments with increasing intervals between them. For generally maintaining good health and for relaxation, treatments at 4-weekly intervals are usually sufficient.

Private health insurance and doctor referals

A growing number of private health insurers are including Reflexology in their policies. For some policies no referal is required, but in any case an increasing number of doctors are making referals for refelxology, and some health insurance policies will cover these.

Please check with your health insurance provider whether your policy covers you and any conditions that may apply.

Please give at least 24 hours notice of cancellation so that others in need can be contacted. A fee of £10 may be charged for late cancellations or missed appointments.
