I have been a registered member
of the British Reflexology Association since qualifying with their teaching body, the Bayly School of Reflexology,
in 1993, giving me over 20 years of continuous experience as a reflexologist.
In 2007 I was accepted as a member of the Clinical Association of Reflexologists which,
like the BRA, demands a particularly high level of experience and professionalism. Membership requires a commitment to
ongoing professional development, keeping abreast of current thinking and research
through reading and attendance at lectures and seminars. This has included my writing articles about topics such as how reflexology
relates to recent major changes to the NHS; research methodologies, and legal requirements,
including data protection. These articles have been published in the professional journals of
the CAR and the BRA as well as the Vertical Reflex Therapy newsletter, and I have also written editorials for
"The Riverside Hub" magazine. More recently, I have completed courses on Understanding and Managing
Anxiety (please see the Stress & Anxiety page) and an "Introduction to Reflexology
in Cancer and Palliative Care" delivered by a specialist State Registered Nurse.
my interest in working with expectant women, I have completed a course "Caring for Pregnant Clients" promoting
an integrated approach to the care of pregnant women, with the appropriate use of reflexology in conjunction with
conventional maternity care. For more details, please see the "Reflexology in Pregnancy" page.
